Biography

Far from being constrained by the singular oppressive labels of “Reggae”, “Rock”, “Punk” or “Funk”, there is a fusion of each genre In ACS’ music. ACS has a tight rhythm section, which is the foundation for many songs, but this also provokes inventiveness where numerous genres and influences are drawn upon. This stylizes their own unique sound; a sound that can be envisaged in the American West Coast with their summer vibes, whilst also appealing to youthful society as a whole.

The tone of ACS is juxtaposed frequently, an upbeat song speaking of tedium such as Countess, often progresses into a melancholic tune reflecting society’s dilemmas, illustrated in No Allies. Whilst some bands are set in their dogmatic ways, playing the same style over and over, a feature far to common in reggae orientated bands today, ACS have a great sense of flexibility where they are constantly trying to innovate their sound.
ACS has taken their mazy journey playing rocky reggae music to numerous fans, releasing their first full length CD, Far from Home, a jaunty record that will put a smile on your face.

A fundamental trait of ACS is that we as the listener can relate to the lyrics. All I Need was written following a visit down to the coast, a trip consisting of beer, sun and good times. Law is a personal anecdote of Alex's misfortune, where he will claim he was victimised by the bureaucracy of the police.
There are a number of guest appearances on the CD; Lucy Faye, DJ St. George, Joel Stanley and Alex Hine all add a profundity to the core music ACS produce

Having been a band for five years now, the four close friends, Alex, Fred, Dave and Rich have a sense of direction and purpose. Last summer saw the band travel along the West Coast of America in a dilapidated shitty Dodge van gigging and meeting new people. This gave the band a degree of clarity in where they were and where they aspired to be. Having featured on Board stories surf channel and also on BBC W. Midlands, the band have started their journey.

So where next for the lads? New material is being produced for their follow up CD, which promises to embody a whole spectrum of sound and excitement. They are on the verge of moving to the hub of musical aspirations, London, where they will aim to progress along the road of success bringing their own blend of Reggae Surf Rock to a wider audience.
